The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark, reconstructed the 30-metre-long Viking warship, Skuldelev 2. It was built in the vicinity of Dublin, Ireland, during the 1040s by shipwrights well versed in Scandinavian boatbuilding traditions. By reconstruction the ship one sight on the past have to be renewed.
Picture from Madeira 2007 - a replica built on the island of the Santa Maria. Rob Wijntje, a native Dutchman having made Madeira to his and his family’s home, had had this dream of building a full-scale replica of Columbus’ ship for many years. A dream, which finally came true when in July ‘97 he started the construction together with 8 locals in the fishing village Câmara de Lobos.
